Windows 8, no support for DVDs
Previously people used Media Centre to play their DvDs however in Windows 8 this could be a thing of the past! now we all know Media Centre is designed to be an entertainment hub for your PC that draws together music, movies and TV.
Now this had been the case Since Windows XP, Media Centre had always been included with Windows at no-cost. However, with the appearance of windows 8, possibly as early as this fall, Ms will begin to charge customers to get Media Centre.
Media Centre will be available in two ways: Either it will be preinstalled by companies on a device or it will be accessible as an optional available update to Windows 8.
Microsoft hasn't determined what the cost for Media Centre on Windows 8 will be yet. However, Ms said that the information will be available closer to the time of product release. One of the reasons the company may have decided to charge for Media Centre because of some associated certification fees, since there statment indicated "the price of decoder licensing" as a factor.
As for how Windows 8 customers will play DVDs on their machines, Ms appears to be saying that it will leave those issues to third-party companies saying "For disk play-back on Windows 8, we are going to rely on the many quality solutions on the market, which offer great applications for both DVD and Blu-ray,".

does your Internet drop out when making calls?
Does your internet drop out when you pick up your phone to make a call? This often happens on wireless handsets no matter what the make or quality and the reason is because of the cheap power supply parts they have used. It still amazes me to think that expencive high quality handsets still use cheap chinese power supplies which often cause interference, this interference is then sent back up the line which is then causing your router to drop the ADSL data connection.
The question is, can this be stopped?
Simple answer is Yes, and its often very very simple.
What you need.
4 x FERRITE RING CLIPs cost £5 to £10 (amazon or ebay often have them)
What does a ferrite bead do?
A ferrite bead is a passive electric component used to suppress high frequency noise in electronic circuits. A ferrite bead, by design, filters out the high frequency noise in the circuit by dissipating it as heat
What to do.
1, Get your first ferrite ring clip and loop the power supply lead round once to form a circle it is very important to loop the wire - now close the ferrite connect clip see picture. ensure that the bead is at the PSU end.

2, Repeat this at the phone end for both the power lead and the phone lead see picture.

3, Lastly place the 4th Ferrite Bead on the ADSL router phone input jack (lead from phone socket in to router) thats it!
It really is as simple as that, the feeding back noise should be cut down meaning that your phone should now not cut out the internet while it is in use. (it worked for me, it should work for you!)
Any questions please feel free to ask.
PC & Phone call scams - stay safe, what to look out for.
A few years back with the surge of the Internet the problem of scam phone calls nearly vanished, however be warned that the phone call scammers are doing it again and this time its more than your card numbers that they are after!
Whos at risk?
- Insecure/Easily Confused
- Computer Novices
- Elderly
What to watch out for.
- The caller says that they are from Microsoft or Windows or are Certified and that they represent Microsoft/Some Company and that they are Microsoft/Company Certified.
- They claim that your computer has got errors or is running slowly or is Infected with a Virus. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM!
What do they do?
- When they call your landline they have you captive and eaisly hold you on the phone, they then get to business twisting things to make you think they are "real".
- For example you agree saying something like it is slower that it use to be, which is when they say "oh so your computer is slow, see thats the virus" once you agree with them its on.....
- They now try and convince you to get on your computer, saying that they will "Try and talk your through how to remove the Issue/Virus."
Hows the scam happen?
- 99% of people get confused at technical terms, so after a few terms like MSTSC, msconfig, mmc most users get confused. This is when the caller suggests that they can do it remotely for them. (most people have experienced some form of remote assistance at work, so they often think its a good idea)
- The cold caller then gets the confused person to install an app like teamviewer, or they navigate you to some remote webpage with the intent of gaining remote access into the computer, remember its YOUR COMPUTER!.
- Warning - if you give someone permission to your computer then no virus software can help you!
What do they do?
- Once they have control to your pc some of the scammers will make you log in to your online bank account "to test it" however it really is so they can see/record your details being entered for example.
- Some root around the hard drive to look for confidential information/pictures/documents and copy them back to their computers for sale or abuse.
- And in the worst cases they install backdoor software which then allows them access to your pc at any time this could be long after the phone call, it could be days or even weeks.
What dont they do?
- The scammers do not fix your computer you are a victim and the chances are your pc was fine before.
- Anyone can phone up saying your computer has got errors, or is running slowly or has a Virus, they are just trying to bait you and scare you in order to gain access to your pc, resist and hang up!!!.
- You have been warned to think logically.
If you have had this happen to you then the chances are the only way you will be totally safe is to either restore your computer to a date before the remote session or reimage your machine from scratch.
If you have had this happen to you then let us know what happened, if you need advice then post in the comments and ill try and assist you.
Good luck and stay safe.

Page Jump Using HTML
Page Jump Using <html>
This is a quick guide on how you Page Jump, you need to place two items on the page:
1. A basic link pointing to another section of the page.
- <A HREF="#codeword">Linked Text, example "Section Title"</A>
2. The point where the page will jump.
- <A NAME="codeword">"Section Title - or blank space"</A>
The A HREF command is the same as a basic link except the link is to a codeword rather than a URL.
There is a # sign in front of the HREF codeword, this tells the browser its an internal link. Without the # the link will try and browse the net and not your page.
There is no # sign in the NAME command.
Good Luck
Screen Orientation
A lot of people often work on long projects, pictures or Excel documents and would find it that bit easier if the could turn the image to "portrait mode." Rotating the screen would then allow them to work further down the page meaning they need to scroll down less. However there are some people will want to do this to just want to annoy their friends....
Either way some graphics cards allow quick keyboard shortcuts and some you have to change manually in the settings it really depends on what Graphics card you have, so try the quick way first.
Here are some ways you can change the orientation.
- Intel: press Ctrl+Alt+Arrow key.
· Ctrl+Alt+Up - rotate 0 degrees.
· Ctrl+Alt+Left - rotate 90 degrees.
· Ctrl+Alt+Down - rotate 180 degrees.
· Ctrl+Alt+Right- rotate 270 degrees. - nVidia: In the Nvidia control panel select rotate display and choose the orientation.
- Windows 7: Right click on your desktop select screen resolution now you can and choose the orientation from the drop down box.
Dont forget to rotate your screen, and if you do this to annoy your friends try to remember to tell them how to undo it :0)
